Use the Holmes & Rahe stress scale to measure how much stress is in your life, and whether you’re at risk of becoming sick. Patients ranked a list of 43 life events based on a relative score. Each event, called a Life Change Unit (LCU), had a different Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale. Rahe validated the scale in as a predictor of illness  using US sailors rating scores of ‘life events’ over the previous 6 months.
